Chris Powell is the trainer and transformation specialist on ABC’s highly rated documentary style series “Extreme Weight Loss.” With an unyielding dedication to helping others, Chris travels the country using his innovative techniques, education and expertise to guide extremely overweight individuals as they shed hundreds of pounds over the course of a year. Season 4 premiered to high ratings in May 2014 and Season 5 premiered on May 26, 2015 and will run through mid-fall. In addition, Chris has filmed three episodes of a special spinoff series entitled “Extreme Weight Loss: Love Can’t Weight,” where he and his wife, Heidi Powell, help transform real-life couples in the months leading up to their weddings. These episodes will air in summer 2015.
Adding best-selling author to his list of accolades, Chris has written two books that have soared to the top of the New York Times Best Seller list. He is currently working on his third book, Extreme Transformation: Lifelong Weight Loss in 21 Days, which will be published by Hachette on December 22, 2015 and is co-authored by Heidi. His first book Choose to Lose, was released by Hyperion in December 2011 and provides motivation, nutrition, exercise, tips, and tricks to help anyone lose those last twenty pounds. His second book, Choose More Lose More, For Life, hit stands last May and offers readers four different carb cycles, and twenty workouts called Nine-Minute Missions that pack maximum results into minimum time.
Chris holds a degree in Exercise Science, with concentrations in biomechanics and physiology and the training accreditation: The Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He has written numerous articles for publication, and is a regular contributor to “Good Morning America” and “The Doctor Oz Show.” Additionally, Chris frequently appears as a fitness expert for nationally syndicated shows including “The View,” “Live with Kelly and Michael,” and “20/20.”
